Alfred, in the red stripe shirt, and the councilor next to him, explained that the body had actually been found by the children who were playing in the water.
The body had come floating down on the river on November 4th... a Saturday, they recalled.
The children, alarmed, had called the adults. Alfred came on the scene, saw that it was a white man and alerted the rest of the village. They then got a tarp, pulled the body onto it, and pulled the body in the water slightly down river past the front of the village, where pulled it ashore to bury it, in tarp.
After burying the body, Alfred, the councilor and village elder went to Angoram, the closest local authority, half an hour down river, and reported the find to the police. |
